Wangari Maathai Scholarship award and sustainability analyst at sustainable square, Kenya
Elizabeth Wanjiru Wathuti is from Kenya and has her expertise and passion in sustainability, environmental conservation and community development. She is a recipient of Wangari Maathai Scholarship award for her outstanding passion and commitment to environmental conservation which dates back to her childhood. The award is in memory of the late professor Wangari Maathai who was the first African woman to receive the Nobel peace prize for her efforts to save Kenya's forests. Elizabeth is also a Greenbelt movement full member. The Greenbelt Movement was founded by the late Nobel Prize winner; professor Wangari Maathai who is Elizabeth’s role model. Enthusiastic about sustainability, she is a sustainability analyst at sustainable square, Kenya which is a micro-multinational firm in the field of sustainability, CSR and social impact headquartered in Dubai that focuses more on organizational sustainability, transparency and disclosure, responsible investment and social impact. She runs an initiative; Green Generation Initiative, with an aim of nurturing young environmental enthusiasts and greening schools. She is a 2018 Global youth in landscape leadership recognized by the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF).
